In celebration of Black History Month:


Today as we celebrate the beautiful artistic achievements of Black Americans, learning and appreciating Black history has never been more accessible. Here are just some fantastic free virtual events we have been enjoying or looking out for this month. My personal favorite is the Obsidian Experience. It is a must see, just click on the link to be transported to an incredible virtual tour of the house.

1. Black Bohemia: a Virtual Village Walking Tour

Black Bohemia: a Virtual Village Walking Tour takes viewers through the neighbourhood of famous black artists such as James Baldwin hosted by Village Preservation

When: Tuesday, February 23, 6:00pm

 

2. Obsidian Experience

Art enthusiasts might be interested in the Obsidian Experience, a “virtual concept house” of the future designed “as an enlightened way of being and dwelling” for Black families hosted by Black Artists + Designers Guild.

3. Black History Month Community Yoga

 

Celebrate the BIPOC involvement in wellness and yoga with Black History Month Community Yoga hosted over Zoom. This virtual event is open to the BIPOC community and the theme of each class will revolve around what Black History Month means to the instructor.

When: Monday through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.CST

4. Edit-a-thorn

 

 

If you’ve ever wondered what it's like to create your own Wikipedia page, here’s your chance. The Smithsonian Art Museum is hosting a Wikipedia Edit-a-Thon: Black History Month Edition. Participants will learn how to create and edit their very own wikipedia articles centered around the lives of Black artists in America.
